Yasuhide Ono’s legal practice focuses on patent procurement, legal opinion, and client counseling.
Mr. Ono has a total of more than twenty-five years of experience in the procurement of U.S., Japanese, and European patents before joining NKL Law, of which about twenty years as an in-house attorney at Panasonic, formerly known as Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. Mr. Ono is both a registered U.S. patent attorney and a registered Japanese patent attorney (inactive). He is also proficient in the German language.
Mr. Ono excels in a range of patent-related works, including patent prosecution in Japan, the U.S., and Germany, patent enforcement, and education of IP professionals in IP-related seminars and conferences. He is well versed in electromechanical art, including video encoder/decoder, mobile phone, semiconductor device and process, DTV, TV panels (including LCD and PDP), battery, fuel cell, medical devices, optical devices, home appliances, robotics, mechanics and business methods.
Mr. Ono is a prolific author of IP-related publications. He frequently gives lectures on Japanese and U.S. patent law topics, including specification/claim drafting, claim construction, subject matter eligibility, means-plus-function claims, novelty and obviousness, patent infringement, defenses, as well as damages and remedies.
